Synopsis

This series takes us to the year 1839, when intrigue, gossip, conspiracy, and envy linger closely behind genuine love, nobility and loyalty. The large group of principal characters interact in several intertwined storylines, all focusing on the lives of two families, the Korfs and the Dolgorukies.
The main female character – Anna Platonova – was raised by the old Baron Korf. She is a talented serf actress, performing in the Baron’s home-theatre, and dreaming of conquering the stages of St. Petersburg. The young lieutenant Repnin, meanwhile, has dreams of his own: he is in love with Anna.
Vladimir Korf, the baron’s son, has an impetuous nature, which among other things, leads him to challenge the heir to the Russian throne to a duel. “Poor Anastasya” features an interwoven cobweb of life, love and hatred, along with thrilling action, incredible twists and turns, and beautiful locations; both outdoors and the interior of the Winter Palace. All this puts the series on a level high above any other soap opera.
