RWS GENERATION!

Shooting of short films by the beginning film directors was conducted at RWS studio facility.

The event was conducted as part of the International Educational Program TOMORROW GENERATION CAMPUS for novice filmmakers, officially sponsored camparu.jpgby RWS film production company.

5 international teams took part in the campus, each preparing a study project, i.e. writing a screenplay and drawing up a shooting schedule.

RWS studio facility became a set for bringing ideas to life, providing the budding talents not only with the soundstages to conduct shooting but with all the necessary equipment, as well, such as cameras, lighting equipment, props and even services of makeup artists.

According to the program, creating a film in the shortest possible time is an important practical teaching component. RWS created the most convenient conditions for carrying out the activity so that nothing could distract the participants from performing their creative task.

Christopher Doyle, a world-famous director of photography, visited RWS.

The expert cineaste had chosen RWS to conduct a workshop on the art of cinematography for the campus participants. In Doyle’s opinion, practice on the set is the best way to learn.

“I think the main objective of such events is to immerse oneself in work atmosphere, get such an opportunity, feel connection and let younger generation do something on their own. The studio provides tons of opportunities! The very location of the studio, at the factory, is great and it’s right that there is a possibility to use the structure and the space of these premises and provide an impressive number of people with job positions. Once, in China, I visited a place like that. Oh, these buildings, houses… Nothing will make you experience such emotions. I’m very impressed! I’d like to shoot a film here immediately!” Christopher talked about his impressions.

Doyle had a look at each project and talked to each team. A legendary interpreter Vasili Gorchakov accompanied Christopher in his visit to the studio.

The Campus arrangers managed to attract famous Russian actors to take part in the shooting. Darya Moroz, Irina Rakhmanova, Aleksandr Barshak, vuga.jpg Evgenia Osipova, Pavel Artemyev, Korni band frontman, and many others visited RWS shooting set as cast and crew members.

Even professionals would love to have an opportunity to works with such actors. Unique creative alliances were formed at RWS shooting sets.

The actors liked not only the lively interaction with their beginning colleagues but the studio itself, as well:

Aleksandr Barshak, “It was a pleasure to work. It felt like a get-together. It’s great that the shooting’s taking place at RWS. RWS rocks, it’s managed to beat the crisis and it’s continuously working on some project and even engages in such charity events.”

Irina Rakhmanova, “I’ve never worked with RWS before but I’ll gladly do it as soon as I get a chance!”

Darya Moroz, “Not long ago I visited RWS studio facility in St. Petersburg. It’s a brand new great studio! But RWS studio in Moscow can boast many productions so you can feel the spirit of cinema and the very work atmosphere. Today on the set I’ve met people I like, my friends. This day made me happy!”

Another day at RWS, full of impressions and taken shots, is over. For the beginning filmmakers working at the most state-of-the-art studio facility became an invaluable experience.
